Chinese Medicine 101
with Qigong for self healing *POSTPONED* until August
Service Description
Qigong is a branch of Chinese Medicine like acupuncture, herbs and moxibustion. It's considered a movement meditation that has been around for several thousands of years. It involves simple exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being. Qigong has both psychological and physical components and involves the regulation of the mind, breath, and body's movement and posture. Qigong is appropriate for all ages and conditions and can be practiced standing or seated. In this workshop, we'll focus on simple, basic postures to regulate body, mind and spirit through movement, sound and intention. You'll also learn some of the basic concepts of Chinese Medicine. To prepare for the workshop please wear loose, comfortable clothing and don't eat a large meal 1.5 hrs prior to the class. You may practice in shoes, socks or barefoot. The workshop is taught by Donna Ellis, who is a forth year acupuncture student at Jung Tao School of Classical Acupuncture, Sugar Grove, NC . Donna also holds a Master's in Medical Qigong from East Coast Institute of Medical Qigong and is a Certified Yoga Instructor.
